We understand that going to new places and attending meets can be a source of anxiety for autistic people.
We can arrange for you to visit us when the building is empty and we can meet you outside before your session if you'd like.
We are happy to answer any questions prior to coming to the building.
If there is something specific that will help, please ask. We will try our best to support everyone.
Meet?!?!
Fear not.
We use the term meet very loosely
You may read our schedule and be terrified at the idea of coming along to a social or support meet.
We think of it more as when people will be in the same place at the same time!
So some people might just want a quiet chat, or to know that there are people around, without interacting with them. Some might want a much more social experience.
You do you in whatever way makes you comfortable.
The following things are completely expected, accepted, understood, and valid:
Our meets come with no expectations to socialise in any ‘typical’ way.
Nobody is judged for being more or less chatty, more or less funny, more or less friendly.
Our staff team have a whole range of personalities as well, we have chatty people and people who are awesome for sitting alongside and just being there.
